Moving from localhost to online

Recommended Posts

Hi Folks I have a major problem. I have completed development work on my site, have copied all the files to the online host and set up the database. The issue is that most of the configuration I had worked on on the localhost has not replicated online. My color schemes, customisations etc... are none existent with the online version. I copied all of the localhost WP content to the online host, configured the MYSQL database and imported a backup of the localhost database. I had to install WP on the online host after the upload and am not sure if that caused it! I also exported the platform Pro settings from the localhost and imported them into the online version, but that didn't help much. I was hoping to launch this site at the weekend, but fear I won't be able to make that deadline. Any one with experience or wisdom they could offer. Thanks in advance

Which theme did you work from? PlatformBase (the child theme) or PlatformPro?

Hey Kevin, Just to recap: You've copied your entire "platformpro" directory from your localhost "wp-content/themes" directory to your server "wp-content/themes" directory, correct? You did a full database export? Did you import the database into a clean database? If not, please do that. (Just simply setup a new database on your server, and modify wp-config.php.)

Thanks Katie I think the mistake that I made, which is not included in the wordpress support documentation, was that I copied all the file to new site and then installed. What eventually worked was installing a new WP and database, then uploading the PlatformPro version. There are a number of items that were missing and that I am still trouble shooting, i.e. NextGEN Gallery
