Separate Page Titles from Navigation Items?

Recommended Posts

karengrovesdesignnet

Hi - I want to have the page title different from the Navigation list. How do I do this? For example, on our Massage page...we want the nav to say Massage but the page title to be Massage Therapy in Sellwood | SE Portland. How do I do this? My Site Does it have to be hard coded into the php? Will iBlog Pro support custom meus on the next go around? Thanks, Karen

You may do that in WordPress menu settings.

Hi John - iBlog Pro theme doesn't support Custom Menus, unless it's in a sidebar widget (See message below). "The current theme does not natively support menus, but you can use the ???Custom Menu??? widget to add any menus you create here to the theme??™s sidebar." Any other suggestions? Thanks, Karen

which version of iBlogPro do you have? It should have custom menus already.

Ah, sorry... iBlogPro 4.1.0. Judging from your screenshot, mine is not the latest version? Why does WP admin tell me my theme is up to date?

I don't think it can't tell the status of offsite/premium hosted themes. I know the PL devs have put in a builtin version tracker for PPro recently.

Thanks Tim. I'll look at that. Quick question. Our website is not based on a child theme (I didn't really know about those when I was doing this) so, I just edited the main files. So, I can't just install this latest version without a lot of headaches, am I right? :) Any tips to make this easier?

You are correct. You can look at the changes made in the main files and make those changes in the child theme files. Once you do that, you can activate the child theme and work on it from now on. Did you make a lot of changes to the main files?

Yes I did make a lot of changes and of course, don't know where those changes were made now. This is one of those things I knew I would have to deal with once I understood the concept of child themes, so, ugh! :)

You can make copies of those main files and put those copies in the child theme folder (that way, they're child theme files you can change from now on instead of having to edit the ones in PlatformPro).
