Customize in Base? (where else?)

Recommended Posts

Got this question: in the PP menu Custom Code:

Insert custom CSS styling here. It will be stored in the DB and not overwritten. Note: The easiest way to customize your site is using "Base" the child theme for PlatformPro.
I quess that this Custom Code settings menu belongs to the "Base" child theme, so then I am allready using the child theme right? Then this quote 'easiest way...using "Base" etc, doesn't make sense to me :-| anyone?

Hi WJ, There are two different stylesheets that users can modify. One is called dynamic.css, and it's populated by Settings->Custom Code->CSS. The other is base.css, and it exists inside of the child theme platformbase. It can be modified directly, and takes precedence over dynamic.css. Hope that helps.

Thanks again Kate, well a little bit clearer. Only the dynamic.css stylesheet can be populated by settings->cstomcode-css. ButI quess it is better to work allways in the base.css? How can base.css be modified directly?

If P-Base is active theme then you can edit it using the theme editor, but it's best to use an FTP program to make changes if you are doing a lot of them.

Thanks. Definitely more clear. So it is not so self-evident that P base is the child theme when you obtained and use Platform pro? Hmm I need to learn a lot... :-s

Hi WJ, Yes, you did it correctly. The files inside of the platformbase folder will connect with the files in the platformpro folder on their own.
