How to add Share on Tumblr and Google +1 icon?

I would like to add the two buttons to my social sharing bar but I have no idea how to do it. Someone from the team mentioned about hooks but I am totally lost in using it. Can someone please show me how to, or a step-by-step instruction? Why didn't the team include the "Share on Tumblr" and "Google +1" icon in the latest 1.50 update?
