Platform Pro Base Child Theme - Does it ever need to be updated?

Thank you for creating such elegant, dynamic and useful theme. Based on my understanding, the Base Child Theme is useful because once there is an update, I only need to update the Platform Pro "parent" theme [and not the Base Child Theme] without losing my settings, my custom CSS, or my custom HTML and PHP functions. 1. Is my understanding about Base Child Themes correct? 2. Does the Base Child Theme ever need to be updated? And if so, how would I know when to update it, and what can I do to not lose my settings. Thank you for any knowledge you can share about this topic.

Yes, your understanding about the child theme is correct. You don't need to update your child theme, but if you want to back up your settings, you can download your theme settings (by going to Settings and scrolling to the bottom).
