cfclol 0 Report post Posted May 29, 2011 Hi Folks I have detected a problem with my platformpro site in IE7. www.design309.co.uk I receive the following error: object doesn't support this property or method (line363) then when the site loads it just looks a complete mess. If I disable javascript it loads with no problem. This only seems to affect IE7. Can anyone give me any advice on how to debug this issue? I have tried disabling all the plugins but the problem persists so I figure it must be something more fundamental. Many thanks
catrina 103 Report post Posted May 29, 2011 I searched around and this list of probable causes for the error popped up: -A problem in the HTML source code of the Web page. -Active scripting, ActiveX controls, or Java programs are blocked on your computer or on the network. Internet Explorer or another program, such as antivirus programs or firewalls, can be configured to block Active scripting, ActiveX controls, or Java programs. -Antivirus software is configured to scan your "Temporary -Internet Files" or "Downloaded Program Files" folders. -The scripting engine on your computer is corrupted or outdated. -Internet-related folders on your computer are corrupted. -Your video card drivers are corrupted or outdated. -The DirectX component on your computer is corrupted or outdated. cfclol 0 Report post Posted May 29, 2011 Thanks Catarina. Are you suggesting the problem lies with the computer (vmware) I'm using to view the site rather than the site itself? Thanks
catrina 103 Report post Posted May 29, 2011 It can be that or a problem with some code in the HTML. I'm not sure what the specific problem could be. What code is on line 363? cfclol 0 Report post Posted May 29, 2011 It's not line 363 of the rendered html as with javascript turned off the page loads fine. It refers to a line in a javascript file but the error messages dowsn't give anymore info. As I said the problem persists with all the plugins disabled so it must be something more fundemental. catrina 103 Report post Posted May 29, 2011 Do you have any jquery files (that aren't there because of plugins)? Please read the docs before posting. cfclol 0 Report post Posted May 29, 2011 It turns out it was the "Include Google IE Compatibility Script? " with that ticked it screwed up (which is kind of dumb...shouldn't that be the other way around?) In any case untick that and it loads fine. Obviously that isn't correct behaviour so would appreciate some ideas on this. Thanks
catrina 103 Report post Posted May 29, 2011 Hm, I don't know why that would be causing the problems, but it is javascript, so it makes sense. I'll leave this topic unresolved so that others can perhaps add more insight on this. Please read the docs before posting. Please do not private message me unless I ask you to.
