Just figured our why platformpro is not THE theme

So we really do love Platformpro, but we recently figured out what's keeping it from being THE theme in the wordpress world. In similar themes, we can add more than one unique post type to a page. Not in Platcform pro though... we have the ability to add every element only once. The other major issue is our inability to add content along side these new post types. So I want a page of banners, but with a sided column. NOT possible! Why not? We're leaning more heavily towards other themes now because of these limitations. Thoughts?

As a new PlatformPro user we are finding the inability to reuse the same template twice in the same page more than once a nuisance, often requiring complex workarounds just to get basic functionality (like 2 banners) I've already had management suggest we bin the PlatformPro theme as getting over its initial learning curve is pushing our projected completion further and further away.

I am unable to add a different widget on the post page area in right sidebar. For example, I would to like add a different sponsor ads when my readers click on the content post, they would see a different widget displayed compared with the main page. It seems the primary sidebar is the only thing works. I can't seem to figure out how to do this. Any guidance on how to proceed? TQ!

@Oliver Lee I use "TS Custom Widgets v2.0 WP Plugin" to show different widgets on the blog page and the post-content page.

As you guys all know, we are working hard on taking your suggestions to heart. These enhancements will be added in the future as they have been highly requested.

The reason this doesn't exist (yet) is because of the way WordPress handles 'meta' options or the options that us as developers can setup on a page-by-page basis. That considered, there are ways around this currently, and we are heavily considering engineering to fix this for future versions. It's just not something 'easily' done, which is why it hasn't been in the 1.x releases.

@Jackey - Thanks for the suggestion. I shall try it out over the weekend. From the response seen here, it's great to know that Platform Pro has strong support for its users.

I'm always a bit confused by the expectations people have when purchasing/reviewing Platform Pro. "Outta the box" it surely has one of the broadest selection of features of any theme available, and the learning curve isn't very steep. But of course, it is in no way the one-stop solution for any web project - no theme can say that. I'm constantly running into its limitations but... what I love about this theme is that the developers have made it extremely expandable (which isn't true other many premium themes). It isn't hard to accomplish what many here are arguing as major reasons to look at alternative themes. For instance: @Oliver Lee - @Jackey is right. There are plugins for this (i.e. different widgets for different pages). Aside from Jackey's suggestion, you could also check out Widget Logic. @Chris Miller - There's a solution for your banners + sidebar issue here (this is about feature sliders but the same solution can be applied to banners): http://www.pagelines.com/forum/topic/8020 Anyway, I guess what I'm getting at is there is no perfect theme out there for your project (unless its one you yourself developed). Even if your happy with what you start with, you'll inevitable run into some road block in the future. I guarantee you'll spend as much time hunting down the "perfect" theme for your project as you would spending a bit of time investigating the possibilities you already have with Platform Pro. Great product! Kudos Pagelines.

Platform Pro does have a learning curve, and for the first couple days I was a bit disappointed. I know CSS and was considering going custom, but I'd rather focus on design and content than coding so I bought PFPro hoping it would save me some time. It didn't. :/ But, I have to say, once I figured things out and it all started to come together, I was happy with the result. I think any other sites I build with it will go much smoother. I look forward to future updates. Thanx! :) .... (But, that leaf down there on something I paid for drives me nuts. Just sayin'.)
