Embedding video in PlatformPro

I'm trying to embed a video I created with Camtasia studio into a post. If tried the default settings for blog and tried custom. Uploaded all the files it created but its just not working. Is there perhaps some howto to get me in the right direction? Regards

Hi Eugene, One alternative is to upload your video to a service like Vimeo, which gives you a HTML embed code. You can then paste this code into the post/page HTML editor to embed the video. You can access the HTML editor by creating a new post/page and switching from Visual to HTML. If you want to embed your self-hosted video, you can use a plugin like JW Player. Hi Stefan, Thanks for your answer! Both are working now! Are there any specific pro's or cons to either self host or use Vimeo? I guess I should just go with one option to keep things simple. Regards

Hi Eugene, In my personal opinion, it is definitely easier to host your videos with vimeo. If you don't want them to be available to the vimeo community, you can always set your videos to be private and only playable on your website. It eliminates a lot of hassle and you don't have to worry about uploading videos to your host, low drive space, or possible plugin conflicts Good luck!

I'm going to go out on a limb and say there are essentially no advantages to hosting video yourself. The only time I'd consider it is if you have extremely sensitive content in the videos. Using hosting services like Vimeo, Viddler, Vzaar, or even YouTube are easy and give you a wide range of options. If you want the videos to only be found on your site you can restrict them from appearing in most service's universal album, as is mentioned above. If you need to increase that security so they can only be played through the embeds on your site, services like Vimeo offer a "domain locking" feature. There are limited places that can lock to SSL domains,so you'll need to look harder for that. You can still use Camtasia as your video capture and editing tool, then upload it into the video service. You can select to skip the HTML production when you create the camtasia video, or include it for local viewing but only upload the actual media file out of the folder Camtasia creates. You'll want to be cognizant that you need to plan on matching the target video sizes with your camtasia production, your custom player in the video service, and the space you leave on your site for embeds.

Hi Gabriel, You make some good points in using Vimeo. I've tried both ways and have to admit that using a hosting service makes it even easier to embed video. For now my choise is Vimeo but will probably be testing the others as well. Thank you.
