Secondary nav links to display portfolio slideshow?

Recommended Posts

marelamy

I have a couple questions about adding a slideshow to my page. please see www.marelharperdesign.com I have my secondary nav on the left, which I made by creating a "Portfolio" Menu widget and then adding the links: Print/Collateral, Advertisements, Identity, etc. What I would like to do is have the links bring you to the appropriate slideshow, showcased on the main page area. When the site is initially opened up, on the home page, it would automatically showcase the first slideshow, Print/Collateral. My question is this: Do I need to use an iframe? I find those a bit confusing to implement. I am unsure how to link these nav items. How do I create a new "page" for these links on the left, with the only difference being the slideshows on the main page changing? Or is it that I want to display a "post" not a page? I hope I am making sense! Please help!

Are you adding slideshows using shortcodes? You can add emtpy anchor links above each shortcode like ` [slideshow] ` Then when you link to the home page make the link look like this: `http://home.com/#slideshow1` and it will jump to that spot.

I don't have a slideshow made yet. I don't understand what you mean about "shortcodes". How do I link my side nav menu items to actual pages? I named the pages I want but don't know how to CREATE the pages. When I go to "add page" it just adds another item to my main nav.

How did you add the side nav menu items? Are these located inside a widget that you added to the sidebar?

Please read the docs before posting. Please do not private message me unless I ask you to.
