Best Method to Update Base theme

We would like to stay current with both platformpro and the base child theme. Platformpro is easily updated, however we are curious what is the best method for updating the child theme every now and again. Is there somewhere I can find a detailed changelog of what was move/added/changed and on what line of what file. Or is the best method to simply diff the two folders and modify this way. Just curious of how people have been updating the child themes. Thanks for any help.

The idea of child themes is that you shouldn't update them. With that being said it has been improved a bit from a self-documenting standpoint so you will want to just reference the new version and copy your current edits into the new version or vice versa.
