Blog function for a page in Magazine mode

Hi Sophie! If you used WP's functions to set a front page, you can also choose a posts page there. Have you tried that? Ricardo

1. Create a page for Home and another page for your Blog. Name them whatever you want. 2. Under "Settings > Reading" choose them as the static pages for "Home" and "Blog". Save the settings.

Hi everyone, Thanks for the advice but I can't have the blog on the homepage due to the request of sites owner. Is there a way to integrate it? ie. when I write a post as long as i have selected the same category it will continue to update the blog feed? or am I reaching for the stars?

If you create a category called News, you can set up that category page's link as a menu item called "News" in the navigation menu (Appearance > Custom Menu) so that when you write a post that is intended to be in the News page, you can just select the News category for that post. That way, the post will go to the appropriate page.

Please read the docs before posting. Please do not private message me unless I ask you to.

Does that mean that every post I write in the category for "News" will show up or only one post (whichever is linked in the navigation). I don't entirely understand.

If you set it up the way Ricardo and Sourena suggest, the homepage will not be the blog page.

A category page shows all posts from that category only. The "posts page" or "blog page" shows all posts from all categories. If you use the custom menu method that Catrina described, when you click on the "News" link in the menu (that has been set to the News category link), then that page will show all posts from the News category.

Hi guys, Sorry, I needed coffee and now it all makes sense. Sorted it out, thank you, I didn't realise you could make a category a navigation button! Great forum, it's helping me tick all the boxes with this project!
