Full Width Posts in Category/Archive Pages with Magazine Layout

Recommended Posts

billlizor

I'm curious if it is possible to have several full-width posts and then the half-width posts on a category or archive page (like on the main posts page). I have my settings set to show two full-width posts as in this screenshot: ES4hL.png When I click on an Archive or Category page, this is what shows up: RbNbb.png I've got all my plug-ins turned off at the moment to troubleshoot. Am I missing something or is this not possible?

Hi Bill! There's nothing wrong there, that's the expected behavior as that setting affects only the posts page. To have the same in archives you need to do some custom changes on your theme. Ricardo

what kind of custom changes you are suggesting in order to get full -width functionality on archive/category page?

You would need a few conditional statements added into the template.postloop.php file but that's about it. If you do it..make sure you copy template.postloop to your child theme and edit it there for safe keeping

The Conditional Tags can be used in your Template files to change what content is displayed and how that content is displayed on a particular page depending on what conditions that page matches.
Conditional Tags are discussed in detail here: http://codex.wordpress.org/Conditional_Tags

Please read the docs before posting. Please do not private message me unless I ask you to.
