What are the benefits of Plus Membership?

I am looking to Purchase Platform Developer, and I understand the differences between Platform Pro and Platform Developer which is why I would purchase Developer. Unfortunately it is not really clear what you get when you go from Platform Developer to Platform Developer Plus other than all major/minor upgrades. This is $100 more up front and then $18/month there after ($218/year). The pricing page one says that this gets me all releases major and minor. Other than that nothing else. This doesn't seem to mathematically add up to be a reason to purchase as it would be cheaper to just buy the major upgrades outright let alone for an upgrade price. I checked the FAQ's on that page and none of the questions address Plus Membership, only Pro and/or Developer. Please help me understand what I get for the additional $100 up front and $18/mo ($216/year)? I mean it seems that this should be itemized out in detail on the pricing page because $216 a year is more than buying a new full version each year. If there is more than just major upgrades as long as you are a member then please itemize it out as I would guess you are leaving money on the table with people who choose Pro/Developer only because they do not see any value in Plus based on details provided.

With the plus membership you get all the themes, like whitehousepro3, iblogpro4, ecopro3 and stationpro3 in addition to Platform Pro, including their future releases.

Okay that makes it better. I would think that should be an extra Check on the pricing page. It looks like it is only available as a monthly membership, have you considered alternative time frames with a discount for longer terms? Most membership sites I have used offer usually at least a 12 month option at some form of discount. For something that I plan to keep for years I find this best.
