Platform pro + WP e-commerce category view problems

Recommended Posts

wiwitk

I have added WP e-commerce Gold Cart to Platform Pro. The product page grid view looks fine. But product category page seems to be broken and is overridden by Platform Pro setting. The page, instead of displaying in grid view, looks like a Platform Pro post page. How can I make that page into WP e-commerce grid view? Product Page : http://www.happygolucky-shop.com/products-page Category 1 : http://www.happygolucky-shop.com/products-page/t-shirts Category 2 : http://www.happygolucky-shop.com/products-page/dresses You can click the links below PRODUCT CATEGORIES in the side tabs for each category. Thank you

how is the Gold Cart supposed to display categories? You set the products up through that plugin right?

Yes, you set up the categories through the plugin. It's hard to say exactly how Gold Cart is supposed to display categories out of the box. Most examples I've come across rely on modifications to the code to achieve a certain look. The only way I've found to get around this problem (although it really isn't a complete work around) was to create my own pages and add the category by clicking the e-commerce icon in the editor. As an example here is how the page displays by doing this: http://hoggetownerunoff.com/?page_id=517 This is how the default page that wp-commerce uses looks: http://hoggetownerunoff.com/?wpsc_product_category=comics The reason why this work around is a problem, is that the breadcrumb which wp-commerce provides links not to the new pages that are created but to the default pages that it sets up. If we can't use the wp-commerce navigation as it exists out of the box, it can be difficult to create a navigation system that doesn't prove confusing to users at some point.

Loren, someone else is having a similar difficulty and I think you are right that it basically comes down to adding template tags from Gold Cart to display what you need on category pages. If you add this to your -Base functions.php file (assuming you have the child theme active) what happens? ` add_action('pagelines_loop_post_header_start','product_image'); function product_image(){ wpsc_the_product_image(); } `

Hi Adam, Thanks for the above. But I do not think ecopro has a base functions.php page. I have changed my test site to a default theme (twentyten). See how it works I only have 1 page with all products tag in it. http://www.lakmatea.dreamhosters.com/products-page But it picks up all categories and single products like http://www.lakmatea.dreamhosters.com/products-page/black/ http://www.lakmatea.dreamhosters.com/products-page/green/ single products http://www.lakmatea.dreamhosters.com/products-page/green/apple-green/ http://www.lakmatea.dreamhosters.com/products-page/black/earl-grey/ Sub pages (checkout etc) are shown in each of those above pages. Thanks Charaka

Thank you all for the help. The work around seems to be the easiest way to fix this. Thanks, Loren.
