i have dificulties with displaying posts for example www.mywebsite.com/?cat=17 shows perfectly the posts but also displays all sidebars features and boxes. i don t see any posibilities to hide them (am i wrong?) so i thought to create a post page and link it as a post page under dashboard - options - reading now on my new page www.mywebsite.com/?page_id=641 below features and boxes i have posts list but when i try to edit my page and hide features or boxes something goes wrong. I scan not save/update the page to hide any elements. after clicking update, i refresh the site and the boxes i checked to hide are unchecked again. please help

In Template Setup -> Posts Pages you should have only "content area" section dragged in. Same with whatever template you are using on your created posts page.

If you're setting your main page as a "static page" as opposed to a page showing your latest posts, you can set your "Posts" page to display a page (which you can select from the list). Is this what you want? Do you want your main page to display a page rather than your latest posts?

Please read the docs before posting. Please do not private message me unless I ask you to.

If you go into settings->reading and set home page to a static page, and then set your blog page to another static page, the posts will appear on that page. You can change and customize it just like any other page.

well, i did it exactly the way you described, but when i set posts for my new static page i can not customize it anymore. i can only edit it from admin panel but the changes won t apply either. really weird.
