Canvas size

Recommended Posts

Some of my pages have absurd padding at the bottom of them because there's not a lot of text on a particular page. I added the following code which I found on another thread (amended to what I think the px might be), but it's still not working the way I'd like. .canvas #page, .full_width #page, body.fixed_width { min-height: 800px; } If you checkout my homepage (http://jimlochner.com/) or my clients page (http://jimlochner.com/clients/), you'll see the different padding. Ideally, I'd like to be able to make the canvas size of at least the homepage smaller (as a minimum) so that the footer (which has my "call me" call to action) shows. Any ideas?

What you are asking is not going to change the visibility of the call me button. It is contained inside of a 1:3 column so you actually need to just make it smaller or adjust the css for the morefoot columns.

Ok, I think I get what you mean. I'll have to play around with it and see what works. But there's a problem with the clients page now. http://jimlochner.com/clients/ The Call Me button in the footer is now cut off. When I look in firebug it shows it's bigger than the other pages. But I don't know how/why...or how/what I did.

Hmm have you made any changes since your last post? I see it being clipped off in every page, not just clients. From what I'm seeing on my end, it seems that Adam's suggestion applies no differently to this page.

I'm not sure what CSS I'm supposed to be changing. And if I made the Call Me button smaller (it's small as it is, especially when typing info into it), I think I'd still have the same problem. I'm staring at Firebug and I have no clue what I'm even looking for. So frustrating as I learn this.

The text widget in which the button is contained is smaller than it should be. Have you tried resizing the button and seeing what happens?

Hi Catrina. Yes, I tried resizing it. It doesn't change the size of the button, just the size of space it sits in. So when I resize it, it just cuts parts of it off automatically. Weird.

Did you manually wrap your morefoot content inside a div? I see a right aligned div that doesn't look like platform code. If you put that in, try changing the align to left and increase the embed width to something like 240. `

I think the embed code you have for the text widget is not written correct. See this screenshot of the changes I made in the browser that seem to correct the error you are having. Make these adjustments in your embed code in the text widget: http://screencast.com/t/8b4MeW6bv Change to <div style="text-align: right;" and change the <object code to width="240" height="85"

@Tim and Shaun - I tried both solutions. I went with Shaun's because I wanted it aligned right. I have no idea why the embed code said the smaller width. Probably what came from Google. Is the 240 that you both mention the actual width of that column in morefooter? Of course, if you shrink the screen size, the button won't get smaller and gets cut off. But hopefully this has corrected the problem so that it shows normally on most browsers. It looks good in Chrome and Firefox. But the button doesn't show in IE. Just the square with the red X. Yet another reason why I hate IE. LOL Any suggestions on what I can do to fix this? Hopefully there are no other issues in any other browsers.

@Jim, I am sorry I did not answer your topic question. My answer above was regarding getting the full image to show for the google call me image.

Then maybe it's my personal IE9 missing something. I won't worry about it. I can only do so much for cross-browser compatibility. :)
