Having trouble adding posts to my blog page I have created!

Recommended Posts

Hello. This is my website GetNeeks and I am having trouble in figuring out how to add post pages to the blog page I created. I created a page called blog, added sidebars etc to give it that blog feel and now I need to know how to link my posts to that page. I feel that I have done something completely wrong, please help. Maybe I have set up the blog page incorrectly. Thanks

Monique, Posts that you create don't have to be manually "linked" (or placed) in a page in order to display properly. When you create a new page, that page is just a page. It doesn't contain posts. However, you can create a custom navigation menu where you can add a link that leads to all of your posts. Have you already created your posts? Can you provide a link here to one of them?

Please read the docs before posting. Please do not private message me unless I ask you to.

I'm not sure I follow. Did you create a new page, and now you want to make that your blog page? If so, go to Settings > Reading, set "Front Page displays" to static, and then set the posts page as the blog page you made.

I think I am having the same issue. My main blog page works fine, but when I click on the title or "continue reading" links to see the full post, I get a 404 page. I set up my site to have a static home page, kept the original blog page as-is (renamed "blog") and did some menu-creation. No idea what's wrong or how to fix. Thanks for the help!! ~Dan

I'm not sure, but it sounds like we have several different issues going on in this thread. Dan, can you check what your permalink settings are? What does it say at the top when you edit each of those posts? And in Settings > Permalinks? Do you have any plugins that affect urls?

Tim, thanks--you were right I had done something I shouldn't have with the permalinks. Now it works.
