Integrated BBPress Forum for iBlogPro

Recommended Posts

Michael_J

Hi. I am using iBlogPro4. We also have the integrated BBPress forum for iBlogPro. I have a couple of questions. 1) Where can I go for issues with BBPress? 2) Where can I go to update the BBPress installation that is specific to iBlogPro? 3) Is it possible to import my current SMF forum (database and users)?

All of these questions would be related to bbPress help. The latest version of the iForum will always be available in your PL LaunchPad account. For other info try: http://bbpress.org/forums/

Unfortunately, nobody is responding over there. I posted three questions last week and nada. Nothing.

Hi Adam, I think you have been helping with another related topic, thanks. Here's the main question: Can I change the database of a 'deep integrated' BBPress Blog, and have it point to a different DB? Background: - I did a deep integration about a year ago, and it works fine on the new (nearly empty) database. - My WP install is http://leftcoastlogic.com/blog . - The Integrated bbPress forum is http://leftcoastlogic.com/blog/forum . As you can see, it looks fine. - My 'old' SMF forum is http://leftcoastlogic.com/forum , it is still running. - My converted bbPress version of that old SMF forum is http://leftcoastlogic.com/forum/bbpress - However, the Master Key and password that I created for that, does not work. It says "user account doe snot exist. I cannot get admin access. I can get access using a 'normal' account, but that doesn't really help. - So I was thinking instead, I could just edit the bb-config.php file of the deep integrated bbPress forum http://leftcoastlogic.com/blog/forum, and point it to the new bbPress database that I created. - I would still have to gain admin access, but I might be able to do that via WP. If so, how to? If not, then how can I get this imported forum up and running, so that it is integrated with my iBlogPro4 site?

Sorry, I got tired of waiting and went ahead and tried the above, but it did not work. I then deleted the bbPress forum http://leftcoastlogic.com/forum/bbpress, re-installed it anew from my cpanel, connected it to the phpbb database that i'm trying to import from (phpbb forum was converted successfully from SMF forum, as you can see here: http://leftcoastlogic.com/forum/phpbb - with full admin access, no problem)... I then ran the conversion script, and got a failure. I know this is not your issue but frankly, if I cannot import my old forum - now in phpbb - to bbPress, there's really no sense in having the bbPress forum and the iBlogPro theme for it. I can't ask my users to start a new forum all over again and lose over 1,500 topics.

Thanks. I've already read that post. It did not solve my problem.

Okay so at this point the larger problem regardless is that you can't get all your phpBB threads imported?
