Problem with Custom CSS - ignoring new CSS rules

Recommended Posts

Hi guys, I entered the following in the Custom CSS window: #branding {width:100%; background-color:#333333;} And, for a moment, the branding was in fact 100% screen width, but then all of a sudden it snapped back to content width. Is there a cache build-up within platform pro? Should I just change this in the actual CSS of the Base theme? My site: http://nigelskeet.com Thanks!

Thanks, Catrina - I added the code to base.css, and deleted the code from the Custom CSS window. It worked for the background color, but the width hasn't changed.

The code is being applied. And the branding is at 100% width of its containing element, which has a set width. Inspect with Firebug and you'll see what I mean. There are several other layers to get through before you can expand that to 100% of the screen, some of which affect the rest of the page. You'd be better off adding a background image to the body that would repeat-x and look exactly like your branding background.
