Need Help with Splash Page and separate blog page.

I've been trying the develop a splash page in PPro similar to Pagelines default front page, however, I'm not having any luck. What I want on the default page: top navigate, logo below (centered), and boxes below. I have the theme in magazine mode and the setting for post to "0" (but it does not save but will save at "1"). Blog post continue to appear on front page. Will someone help with the best way to achieve the desired default page. Many thanks, Tuan
