Have built some great pages with dreamweaver and frontpage - but seriously, is it me or is this platform pro thing absolutely impossible to get your head round?! I have spent days trying to get it and failed. I download platform pro theme - installed worpress no problem. I've even done a lovely Nav bar - great feature banner - uploaded images etc...not bad so far... But the default pages - widgets - sidebars...and how to actually get content into my pages and arranging each page. I am telling you....its an absolute nightmare. What I want to create is so simple....yet I cant do anything! Lets take a simple example: A page with branding,a nav bar and a feature slider...no problem....I've put that in site header so thats locked in.....but then I want a page with a carousel, a full width text area below that...then a sidebar on left with a small navigation area big main text section on the right...then 3 boxes below that each with a sort of advert in....well that sounds simple enough...but I'll be a postman if I can figure it....where do I put the content? If I add a sidebar to left where does it go? How do I get content into a sidebar...what are these widgets? How can I tell what each of them do from the words...its a living hell....your video tutorials are absolutely rubbish I'm sorry...I'm not a complete idiot, there are some real issues working this out. I wouldnt even know where to start to even explain how confusing it is...(thats how bad it is). I've given myself 3-4 days to get familiar and overcome these issues and concede I may be mad - but I have to tell you...the tutorials need to be seriously improved. I'm tweaking here and there trying to see what happens to my site...and its impossible to understand whats going on Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
Guest Guest Report post Posted March 22, 2011 James, It sounds like the issues you are having pertain to WordPress in general, not PlatformPro. Editing page content, adding sidebar widgets; these are all things that have been left unchanged in Platform and function like any other standard WordPress theme or platform. The PlatformPro videos explain how to use PlatformPro, not WordPress in general. I've calmed down abit now and managed to get my head around some of these issues....and yes it does seem to be more of a wordpress thing than Platform....there are definetly some arreas that need a little bit of coding knowledge (or perhaps making stuff in a dreamweaver and then getting the code over..... all in all its not that bad. I suppose the platform theme is supposed to help overcome - its heading in the right direction! And I have found this forum is the solution to working through these issues...I've had patient and clear responses so far that are helping. So thank you!
