stevesidea 0 Report post Posted March 22, 2011 I'm missing something very simple I'm sure, but I'm having trouble setting up Platform Pro to have a blog index/landing page. Everything seems to be working for me except on category pages mysite.com/category/blog/ ... i can't get the boxes to turn off? Is there a blog template or archive template that I can tweak? I'm looking for something like you have working here... http://www.pagelines.com/demos/platformpro/blog-
Guest Guest Report post Posted March 22, 2011 Can we get a link to your site so we can see how it looks now?
Sourena 2 Report post Posted March 22, 2011 You can choose your page layout mode from the drop-down menu here: What boxes are you referring to? alefba.usWeb Development & Design for Right-to-Left languages
stevesidea 0 Report post Posted March 22, 2011 Dummy version of what I'm trying to do http://drygoodsdigital.com/yoga/ so... homepage has: NAV/BRANDING/BOXES and automatically shows recent blog posts... But, I don't want the boxes to show up on the single blog post pages or the index of the blog http://drygoodsdigital.com/yoga/?category_name=uncategorized http://drygoodsdigital.com/yoga/?p=28 It's easy to turn off the boxes on the "pages" using the control settings on the edit screen for those pages since there'd only be like 3 or 4 pages, but it'd be annoying to have to do this for every blog entry. I just can't seem to get the right combo of turning things on or off... would it be easier if I created a page called HOME that did what I needed? If so, I haven't been able to figure out how to create a page that shows recent blog posts below. Thanks... very friendly / supportive community here. bonngean 0 Report post Posted March 22, 2011 Steve, Is this something like you want? http://contentequalscash.com/ As you can see, the Pagelines boxes show up on my landing page. Now, click the blog link in the footer navigation, which takes you to my blog: http://contentequalscash.com/category/plr-news/ As you can see, the blog doesn't show the Pagelines boxes on either the Post page or the single post pages. Is this what you want? -- Bonnie

Andrew 207 Report post Posted March 23, 2011 blog/posts pages don't support meta data, so to control them you need to use either: 1. "Posts section control" the advanced settings in the template setup area. 2. Global options, under blog and posts there are several options just design to help control the posts pages. stevesidea 0 Report post Posted March 24, 2011 Thanks. Would it be silly of me to give someone my user/pass for a dummy setup of it here on the pagelines demo to see what I'm clicking and dragging? If not, I'll just go back to square one and try again. It's a small site so easy to retry.

bonngean 0 Report post Posted March 25, 2011 Hi Steve, What I did to get around this problem, was create a static page that became my home page. I went into WP and created a new page and called it home. Afterwards, I went inside WP Settings >> Reading >> and checked "Static Page" and in the drop box below it, I picked Home. For the Home Page inside WP, I picked the Default Page Template. Of course, when you do this, you'll need to point the Home page to your blog's INDEX page somewhere in your navigation. The way I did was change the default "category" name to "plr-articles". Then I created a default posting category called "plr-news". To point my static home page to my blog index page, I simply had to add a link for: http://contentequalscash.com/plr-articles/plr-news/ Which is where the visitor gets sent when they click my footer navigation link here: I hope this helps you, Steve. If there is anything you need more detail on, just ask. I'll be glad to help if I can. --Bonnie
bonngean 0 Report post Posted March 25, 2011 Steve, I did the same thing with a 2nd site of mine, using a "Highlight Page" as my static home page. So be sure to check out the different pages to use as a home page. Whichever suits your purpose the most. PagelinesPro is very versatile. --Bonnie
