Sidebars appearing when not requested.

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys, I am using PlatformPro and after the recent upgrade have noted that one or two of my pages are showing sides bars that are not requested. This is visable on the blog pages of www.craftclassroom.com The ONLY sidebar that is requested to showing is Search and Archives. The Gallery and Events should NOT be visable on this page. Can someone please help me resolve this new issue? Regards, Martin

Hi Martin, I don't believe I'm seeing the issue. Did you get it figured out?

Hi Kate, Clearly this is a major issue for me and has ONLY occurred since upgrading to the new version of PlatformPro. I use the WishList Member plugin and have secured the Gallery section to users that are logged in. So besides not having access to the Gallery without being logged in, the Gallery sidebar has NOT been authorised (from with the PlatformPro environment) for viewing on teh BLOG page - but it is still there! Regards, Martin

Hey Martin, So, if I'm understanding you correctly, it's actually the other widgets that you don't want showing, correct? It sounds like you only want "Search" and "Archives", correct?

Martin, Double check the "advanced setup" toggle for each sidebar section that is active. Make sure that Universal sidebar is set to "hide on posts pages" etc.

Hey Cmunns, I have done as you requested and still no improvement. The PlatformPro settings appear correct, as do the Widget settings. I have used the Primary. Secondary and Universal sidebars, but changed the Universal one to the Tertiary sidebar (to test the outcome!). The three pages affected are Blog, Event, and Galleries. My Blog Page now shows the Primary and Secondary sidebars (it used to show Primary, Secondary and Universal), whereas it should ONLY show the Primary sidebar - it used to do this prior to the upgrade! The Events Page actually ONLY shows the Secondary Sidebar and this is correct. Since changing the Universal sidebar to the Tertiary sidebar, the Galleries Page now shows NO sidebars at all. I have uploaded screenshots for your review Craft Classroom Screens Regards, Martin

So then you're half way there? If it used to show all three and now only shows two then you must have made progress unless I still don't understand... If you want to contact me I'll take a look adam[at]pagelines.com

I ONLY require it to show the PRIMARY Sidebar and have configured the page to do so , as per the PlatformPro checkboxes on the page (supplied in the earlier pictures). The fact that it shows several sidebars is a downside affect that occured after upgrading to the current PlatformPro theme. I trust this clarifies the position. Thank you. Martin

Hey Martin, I recommend taking Adam's kind offer of taking a look at it ;)

Not sure why this is the case, but it appears that the Blog page doesn't take the global meta options when it is a sub-page. I've changed it so it is a parent page and it seems to work fine now as does the breadcrumb if that was your concern.
