Theme Options admin problem - Invalid argument

Recommended Posts

incitrio

Hi There- New WhiteHouse Pro3 install from Developer version, New WP database, and things seem intact and functioning, but I've lost editable options in the Theme Options area. In multiple locations(notably Post Thumbnail Placement, Post Excerpt Placement, Full Post Content Placement, Default Theme Color Scheme, etc.), I get the same error: Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /webroot/j/o/johnb011/primary/www/wordpress/wp-content/themes/whitehousepro3_dev/core/admin/admin_functions.php on line 312 I've clicked the Restore to Default button on each screen, and no luck. Please help

Are you also using the latest WordPress version? Thanks, Bryan

Yes. Latest WP install. WP files are not in the web root folder, if that makes a difference... they are in a /wordpress/ directory. All errors make the same reference to line 312 in the admin_functions.php file, which looks like it refers to establishing radio button selections for the various theme options. Does that help?

Only one plugin has been activated - WordPress Importer. Akismet and Hello Dolly are loaded, but have never been activated. I had an issue with Platform Pro that required BuddyPress to be activated to solve, but I don't think WhiteHousePro 3 has any required plugins...

Ah, the old "Invalid argument supplied for foreach()". Love that one! Did this error happen to coincide with an upgrade to WP 3.1? Or did you do a fresh install of wordpress and then upload the theme files? If its the former, and if your site hasn't been customized too extensively, I would suggest reinstalling WP and then re-uploading your theme and activating.

It's a brand new WP install, upgraded to 3.1 before uploading the theme. No customization yet. But I loaded the db with content from two different import sources. I'd rather not go through re-installing anything unless we're SURE it will solve the issue...

What PHP version is on your host?

Can anyone confirm that this is the result of an installation issue, and not a bug with the WhiteHouse Pro 3 Dev file package? I don't want to uninstall/reinstall without total confidence it will fix the issue... And do I need to delete the database and start over, or can it stay as is?

Sometimes this happens on installs, but it's a simple fix usually resetting the theme options will do the trick.

Hi Adam. If you read above you'll see that I tried multiple times to reset theme options, revert to default, etc. and it doesn't work. I've reinstalled the theme. Doesn't work. I'm looking at doing a complete WP uninstall/reinstall, but I'd like to make sure it's not an issue with the WHP3 files I have. Can you answer that?

My apologies I just personally tested with WP3.1 and latest of WHP and didn't have any problems. Hopefully that answers your question.

No worries. Just frustrated. I have WHP3 Dev files. Is it possible they are different from the standard set?

No it shouldn't matter, but to be safe I also just checked with the dev version and had no problems. Have you contacted your hosting company to check for potential conflicts?

Checked with the host, and they think it's a problem with the theme files or the install. I guess at this point I don't have much choice but to wipe the whole thing and reinstall from scratch. Do you think I should delete the database too, and create again from scratch, or does the theme not really use the db?

I would do a fresh install with a clean db for testing purposes. I had a feeling that the host would blame the theme (they always do)...let's see what happens in the fresh version. Sorry for the trouble.

Dammit! Same issue. Removed all WP files from site. Deleted database. Dowloaded new 3.1 install files. Created new database. Uploaded all new WP files. Went through traditional install.php setup. Uploaded theme files. Activated theme. In multiple locations(notably Post Thumbnail Placement, Post Excerpt Placement, Full Post Content Placement, Default Theme Color Scheme, etc.), I get the same error: Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /webroot/j/o/johnb011/primary/www/wordpress/wp-content/themes/whitehousepro3_dev/core/admin/admin_functions.php on line 312 I'd be happy to share a screenshot here too: Screen_shot2011-03-23.png

There is also this one (a bit different) in the Post Footer Sharing Icons option: Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /webroot/j/o/johnb011/primary/www/wordpress/wp-content/themes/whitehousepro3_dev/core/admin/admin_functions.php on line 291

Are you sure there aren't any required plugins to successfully run this theme?

I never created an "admin" user, but instead used another ID.... I can't imagine this would make a difference, but I'm grasping at straws here.... getting out the straight jacket...
