Shortcodes not working within boxes? (PlatformPro 1.3.1)

Recommended Posts

Hello! I'm having an issue with shortcodes within under the latest version of PlatformPro (using both PlatformPro and PlatformBase). The shortcode I'm using is

[quote|random]

from the plugin Quotes Collection. I saw elsewhere that rendering code was changed in 1.3, but was supposed to be addressed in 1.3.1. Any ideas?

It may simply be a poorly designed plugin because I know shortcodes work in boxes. Have you considered trying a different plugin? Thanks, Bryan

What do you mean by "poorly designed"? Is there a way to write shortcodes that work in one place but not another? For example, the

[quote|random]

shortcode renders correctly in the Boxes list within the admin interface.

Can you clarify what you mean by shortcodes that work in one place but not another? Do you mean shortcodes that work in Boxes, for example, but not in another section?

Sure, sorry for the lack of clarity! On the homepage of my PlatformPro site, I have a bunch of boxes. One, specifically, is "customer quotes" - this is the one where

[quote|random]
is failing (it previously worked and stopped working after the PlatformPro upgrade to 1.3.x). However, when I pull up the list of Boxes within the administrative interface --
http://sitename/wp-admin/edit.php?post_type=boxes

the "text" column renders the shortcode correctly. So it doesn't appear that the plugin itself is broken (though this could be the case, of course). I've got a ton of quotes already loaded and would prefer to stick with this plugin (Quotes Collection) if possible. Thanks!

Jacob, have you tried using the exec-PHP or whatever it was, plugin that was mentioned in the other thread?

Jimmy - thanks, I haven't tried that. Seems like overkill for what I'm looking to do, which is to just figure out why this plugin's shortcode isn't working in boxes. I'd also prefer not to give me authors/maintainers the ability to do exec-PHP.

I'm running the latest version on my local machine, and am having no problems displaying shortcodes. Try testing it by using a different shortcode.

Okay guys - you were right and I was wrong! It was a poorly-coded plugin! So if anyone else has problems rendering shortcodes in Boxes or elsewhere - grab another plugin.
