malcfinch 0 Report post Posted March 10, 2011 Hi I've got problems with the carousel. A. The carousel doesn't auto scroll, therefore it can't be called a carousel. B. The thumbnail sizes are ignored no matter what I set them to. any ideas ? maddog_uk
cmunns 16 Report post Posted March 10, 2011 Can you give us a link to the site? Also, how many images are in the carousel and where are you setting the size option?
malcfinch 0 Report post Posted March 10, 2011 Hi I'm setting up the site on www.imdi.co.uk, once I've got my head around platform pro I will move to another domain. There are currently 8 images but this will increase to about 12. I'm setting the image size in the gallery settings for NextGen, and I've tried to set them in the platform pro - carousel setting. no luck with either option Ideally I would like to show 3 or 4 images at a time (out of the 8-12 in the gallery) that auto scroll across. cheers maddog_uk

cmunns 16 Report post Posted March 22, 2011 It looks to be working perfectly normal to me. Items are auto scrolling and the thumbs are at 100x100.
malcfinch 0 Report post Posted March 24, 2011 That's a different carousel. I've added WP-carousel to a universal side bar and used that. It doesn't work properly within platform pro as it doesn't show the text. The larger images were using features. Is there a way I can display posts in features ? I'd like the platform pro carousel to do the same. Platform Pro could have a lot of potential but it's not living up to it...nowhere near.
Kate 3 Report post Posted March 24, 2011 Hi Malcolm, Perhaps I'm misunderstanding the question... But, yes: you can display posts in feature sets. You set it up in your settings.
malcfinch 0 Report post Posted March 24, 2011 I originally used the nextgen carousel on the site, but it just didn't work, it didn't auto scroll, it wasn't displaying text from posts. I have now installed wp-carousel and that seems to work much better. However that doesn't display text from a post either, I can get around this by manually creating each item within the wp carousel plugin. If only you could show multiple features with the feature box.
Andrew 207 Report post Posted March 25, 2011 The carousel PageLines provides hasn't been designed for 'auto scroll' this is mostly because we don't believe in this design choice. If you have any suggestions or want to implement something w/ the carousel itself, it's all possible.. Just read up on the API here: http://sorgalla.com/projects/jcarousel/
hughhempel 0 Report post Posted April 27, 2011 I agree with the OP... A carousel should (by definition) have an auto-scroll... Andrews comment about neutering the feature-set based on some sense of what is ""right in design seems to directly conflict with the capabilities of the "features" slider and moreover seems very short sighted as I am certain that MANY users of PlatformPro would enable the auto-scroll were it avail (and don't want to muck in the jcarousel API)... I for one got heavily invested in this platform under the assumption that these "features" would include the basic config params exposed in the UI... Otherwise, I would roll my own with jcarousel and lose the complexity of the platform... Simply not a good feature/design decision IMHO...
malcfinch 0 Report post Posted June 30, 2011 use the new version of WP carousel, loads better with new themes. You can duplicate a theme and then edit the css to make it how you want. I was surprised how easy it was. Still the PP carousel sucks...why not use WP carousel as default in PP ? cheers malc finch
