giving category pages an active state in the header navigation menu

Recommended Posts

Hi, I'm using Pagelines Pro/Base and have added a few category pages in the WordPress 3.1 menu structure (to pull category posts). However, when on that category page or viewing a post, the menu item in the header navigation is not assigned an active state and is not highlighted. Here's a category page that pulls in posts from a certain category: http://timetoembrace.com.previewdns.com/category/embracing-the-times/ As you can see, the 'Blog' in the header navigation is not "active" as other pages such as the 'About' page is. Thanks in advance for helping! What is the fix to make category pages an active state in the header navigation?

Did you play with the other design control options? You are missing the one which control current page item while the one that shows current page ancestor has been changed.

Hi, Adam: Thanks for your reply. I've gone through the design control options and don't see where I can control the current page items or ancestors? I'm using the most current version of Pagelines Pro/Base. Can you please elaborate? I'm happy to give you wpadmin access if you want to email me?

Okay just go ahead and add this css selector to match the active state: ` body .main_nav ul li.current-menu-item { background: #hex; } `
