Adding Hooks

Recommended Posts

tim4708

Hi, I would like to add hooks like the ones that can be seen in the upper right of the page, here. I have reviewed the tutorial here, but am still unclear on what I need to do exactly. My webpage is here. What would you suggest? Thanks.

To give you a better understanding of hooks, it's best to think of a hook as the place where you want something to appear (i.e. a hook for the top right corner would be pagelines_after_branding_wrap). The function that you you need to add is what retrieves the content you want to appear (i.e. - an image link). Does that make sense? To help me help you get a better understanding, is it the language link options (as shown in the link you posted) that you want added to the top right of your site?

Yes, that is correct. I would like to create versions of my website in Mandarin, Japanese, Cantonese and Korean and therefore need hooks/links for those languages, plus English. I would also like to add hooks/links for "Free instant quote" and "Place an order," as shown in the link noted above. The closer it can resemble the link I sent along, the better. Thanks!

The hooks would be an ideal way to go for both the language links and "free instant quote"/"place an order" links. Do you already have a plugin to use for selecting different languages? (Once that is set up, the hooks can be figured out from there.)

WP Multi-Language or WPML is pretty solid from what I hear.

Great, thanks! Returning to the hooks, how would you suggest I set them up? If you could walk me through it on a step by step basis, that would be terrific. I am in Edit Themes -> PlatformPro Style sheet What should I do next?

Hey Tim - Is there a reason you wouldn't just add those links to the menu, or create a new one?
