I would like a more fixed frontpage ... and the blog on another me nu item. I have made another page called Nyheder - meaning news.... which appeard in the menu...and I would like a certaain category of articles on this page.... This should be quite simple.... but either my site is corrupt....or I am maybe a lot more stupid.... please help .... regards, Martin
kastelic 6 Report post Posted March 4, 2011 Make a blank page called "blog" and a page called "Home" In Settings->Reading set Blog as the blog page and the "static" homepage as "home". In Appearanc->Menus. Make a custom menu and set it as your primary menu. Add all your pages. Add any categories and rename them as you wish.
mllarsen 0 Report post Posted March 6, 2011 IS this the procedure with iBlogPro ? or a basic wordpress without theme?
mllarsen 0 Report post Posted March 6, 2011 Is it possible to have more pages like apple news and have the articles about this appear on that page another page with Tips & Tricks and have those articles appear there? And how to? Because now I have specified that the blog page is the blog page....
catrina 103 Report post Posted March 6, 2011 The custom menu can be accomplished using iBlogPro. You can use Categories as a way to separate posts/articles into different pages. If you need further help setting it up, let us know. Please read the docs before posting. Please do not private message me unless I ask you to. mllarsen 0 Report post Posted March 7, 2011 Well, I do... apparently... since if I make a new page.... How do I make specific posts appear on that page? I can put them all in a seperate category... Thank you so much in advance Regards Martin
mllarsen 0 Report post Posted March 7, 2011 Can I only have ONE posts page? If not how do you specify to get certain posts to appear on a specific page? ie news posts on a news page and tips & tricks posts on another page? Regards, Martin
Kate 3 Report post Posted March 7, 2011 Hey Martin - Assigning each of those to appropriate categories should be suitable. For instance: a "News" category and a "Tips & Tricks" category. Make sense?
mllarsen 0 Report post Posted March 7, 2011 Thank You for your answer.... but thats just it.... That alone wont make those posts show up on another page....?
Kate 3 Report post Posted March 7, 2011 It will... Did you check out our navigation tutorial? This is actually covered in there. Here's a link: http://www.pagelines.com/docs/menus-navigation Basically it will looks something like this: `http://www.yoursite.com/category/news`
mllarsen 0 Report post Posted March 7, 2011 Yes I did actually have a look at those among other things, I have spent many days on this....And I am soooo frustr.... I have read many places on the web that a lot of people are wondering about this. So maybe I did not explain myself good enough.... Have a look at my site.... www.lundlarsen.com There a menu item called "Apple Nyheder" ... Apple News. And I want a certain category of posts to end up here.... Another menu item says "Tips'n Tricks" and here i want some other posts to show.... Not just one post but all the posts in that category? How to do this simple step??? Regards, Martin
cmunns 16 Report post Posted March 7, 2011 Did you go to APPEARANCE - MENUS and manually create the menu. You'll there on the left there is a list of categories on your site that you can use to create navigation items with. THus...when you click "Tips n Tricks" you'll be directed to only those posts. rush123456 0 Report post Posted April 20, 2011 Yes, I agree with Martin is saying. From what people are saying here, you need to go to Appearance > Menus and then create a custom menu. Let me tell you what happens if things are done the way you suggested. Lets say Martin has two Pages "Apple News" and "Tips and Tricks" and two categories with the same name. Under the custom menu, he has indented the "Apple News" category to the "Apple News" page and saved it and choose it as the Primary Navigation option. Now lets say he is creating a post Called Title: New MacBookPro Description: BlahBlahBlahBlahBlahBlahBlahBlahBlahBlah and choses the category "Apple News" for it. According to you, it should show up when he clicks on the "Apple News" page on the website, but it doesn't. I only shows up when you click on the category "Apple News". I am using the free version of iBlog and was under a assumption that you guys locked the option in this version and was planing to buy the pro version. This besing the case, I dont think it makes any sense in upgrading to the pro version. This should be fixed, or else it doesn't make any sense in creating such an awesome and elegant design. No offense meant. Mr.Martin. Thanks for brining up this post. Looks like we are in the same page. Please help.
