Translate Byline

Recommended Posts

Hello, I'd like to edit the byline so that it reads: Le 19 f?©vrier 2011 ?· Dans chronique [etc.] And not On 19 f?©vrier 2011 ?· In chronique [etc.] I do not seem to be able to do the same trick as with the "Reading more", which was to edit template.postloop.php

Have you translated the theme into French?

I am writing a detailed description of the process. Check this page in a few hours. It is not difficult, but it has its own process.

Here is the link to the instructions for translating the theme. I will edit it tomorrow to make it more clear. My English is not that fluent but I hope it is good enough to describe the process. :-)

Hello You can change that in theme/platform/core/libray/library.templates.php pour le "continue reading" you can change that in the templates.postloop.php sign?© un fran?§ais qui a pass?© pas mal de temps sur ce probl??me. Mais qui n'a toujours pas la r?©ponse pour changer le "currently viewing tag" :))

@Emmanuel: That is not the right way to do translations. It is better to leave the theme's core codes untouched. That way you do not need to do all the changes over and over every time the theme gets upgraded. Change the translation files. It is easier than what you think.

Great work, Sourena! I suppose I need to add a language to Platform Base, right? I do not know why everyone needs to redo that stuff over and over again. If I ever complete that job, I'll post here a link to the file. In any case, I consider my question solved. Many thanks!

No. You need to add the language to PlatformPro, because that is the main theme. Platform Base is just a child theme. If you post a link to the French language file here we can ask Pagelines to add it to the next edition of the theme so other French-speaking users do not need to do this process again.

If you post a link to the French language file here we can ask Pagelines to add it to the next edition of the theme so other French-speaking users do not need to do this process again. Good! Meanwhile, is the translation I am doing returning to Codestyling in a collaborative way? It looks like it, but I'm not sure.

Hello again, Ok, my question is answered, but I still need to work a bit to make the answer work for me. I translated a few words in PlatformPro, and the translations are not appearing on the website. Do I need to activate the localization in some way?

Ok, it seems that we need to set the file permissions to 777; 755 is not enough. There might be other reasons: setting fr_FR in wp-config, using fr_FR instead of fr_CA, but enough for now: it works! Awesome! Happy Karma to Sourena!
