Hello, I was looking for a solution to avoid unrelated thumbnail image while sharing post on Facebook. And I found this. So, I would like to know if it's possible to copy this piece of code into the child theme's functions.php file? I've tried some WP plugins which add required meta tags but no success. Any idea?

yes you can try. I'm not sure why they are using `is_singular` as a conditional when the correct conditional tag would be `is_single`
