lloydfilms 0 Report post Posted February 16, 2011 Is there a way to set the color of the navbar or turnoff the transparency? I would like to set the page background color and not have it effect the nav bar. Thanks

thebusysingleparent 0 Report post Posted February 21, 2011 Does anyone have an answer to this because I want to do the same thing. I changed the background color to black now if I check to have drop down menus it adds this ugly black bar across my navigation. How can I change the background color without it affecting the drop down menu color?
bryan-hadaway 3 Report post Posted February 21, 2011 Let's get links please so we can see for ourselves. Thanks, Bryan
thebusysingleparent 0 Report post Posted February 24, 2011 I don't know that my link will help as I turned off the drop down menu selection because it was too ugly with the black. http://thebusysingleparent.com/ If I knew when you were going to look I would turn it on so you could see but its just too ugly to keep it that way. To clarify I want to add drop down menu to my main navigation but when I do so it displays the navigation in black (the body and page background color) until you hover over it then it turns white. I just want it white with maybe a shadow affect when you hover.
bryan-hadaway 3 Report post Posted February 24, 2011 Without seeing it, it's hard to understand and the demo doesn't do it... Thanks, Bryan
thebusysingleparent 0 Report post Posted February 24, 2011 I had an image background that only covered the top part so I had made the page background color black to blend into the background image. It looked nice but the background color also worked as the color of the main navigation menu when I selected the "enable drop down navigation". So, I've removed the background image and color for now until I figure this out so I don't have the black across the main navigation. If you want to contact me using yahoo messenger at [email protected] we could maybe get this figured out or I suppose it wouldn't hurt to leave it like that for the evening so you can see. thebusysingleparent 0 Report post Posted February 24, 2011 Ok, I have it so you can see what I mean. Its ugly so I hope you are able to check soon.
bryan-hadaway 3 Report post Posted February 24, 2011 `#primary-nav ul.sf-menu, .sf-menu *{background:#fff}` Add to Custom Code > Custom CSS. Thanks, Bryan
thebusysingleparent 0 Report post Posted February 24, 2011 Ok, that worked but I am a bit confused. I just today installed the base child theme. I thought you were supposed to be able to make changes like this in the base.css? I tried but it didn't work - does that code not work there or am I missing something. Lord knows I'm missing something but that's another story Sorry to be a pest but I don't know the first thing about css or codes or anything - just learning as I go. Kate 3 Report post Posted February 24, 2011 Hey Christina - You're fine, no worries. When you say you installed the base theme, did you activate it too? Don't mean to ask an obvious question, but sometimes that gets overlooked.
thebusysingleparent 0 Report post Posted February 24, 2011 No, I wasn't sure on that because I have the pro theme activated - didn't want to screw up all the work I have in my sidebars. So, if I understand this correctly I am supposed to activate the child theme. I can edit how it looks and behaves in the child theme but it pulls over all information from the pro theme except for custom edits in the child theme? So when the pro theme is upgraded it keeps my custom edits in the child theme? If this is right then I had it backwards.. thought I used the pro theme and it pulled the info from the child theme. Am I still confused?
thebusysingleparent 0 Report post Posted February 24, 2011 Katie, before I go activating the child theme will that mean everything will have to be custom coded? I don't know the first thing about codes, css or anything other than basic html. But I am concerned about losing changes if and when I ever need to update the pro theme. Such as using widget logic in sidebar widgets. I have put a lot of work and have a huge list of widgets in my sidebars and do not want to have to redo that work if I ever need to update. Hope you understand what I'm trying to say. I like the options this framework offers the code illiterate people like myself which is why I spent the extra money to buy the pro theme. I'm by no means even close to being a web designer. I'm just a single mom with an idea and wanted to put it into action and this was the best way I found to do it. cmunns 16 Report post Posted February 24, 2011 The child theme still allows you to change all the options that were available to you before. The only thing it does is keep any custom code edits safe during an upgrade, such as custom css codes. Widgets and plugins won't be affected by updates to the PlatformPro setup...also I recommend getting a plugin that will allow you to schedule backups so you don't lose any data.
