Platform Pro 1.2.2 Upgrade

A few weeks ago I received the email saying an upgrade was available (Platform Pro 1.2.2). As a novice, I'm hesitant. It took me a long time to get my site (brandongaudin.com) how I wanted it, and I'm afraid any upgrade might alter something. Will everything on my site stay the exact same after the upgrade? Also, what is the correct way to complete the upgrade?

Also, if all of your changes were in the child theme, then you should be able to upgrade the parent theme with no problems. Like catrina said, be sure to back up your site just in case.
