Posts pages on platform pro

Hi, I'm making a site using platform pro base in magazine layout. My problem is I can't seem to find how to make posts pages. I have options to create features, banner, box pages, but not a page where I can publish posts. The only way I seem to be able to do it is by publishing a post under a category which has been marked as a page. Is that how it works? I'd love some help. Thanks in advance! Naveen

No, there's an actual Posts tab, click on that and then Add New. Thanks, Bryan

Thanks, Bryan. I did that, but when I want to publish the post, how do I make it go to a specific page I've created. For instance, if I've got a page set up that is called "Women" how do I publish my post so that it shows on that page? Thanks, Naveen

The trick is to create a category called "Women". Then assign the category to all your new posts when creating them. You'll automatically have this page: http://www.yourwebsite.com/category/women/ Next you'll want to create a custom menu: Appearance > Menu so that you can add it as a menu tab. Thanks, Bryan

I followed your instructions as outline above since I was having the same problem. I have added the new category tab as a sub menu of my main tab (which is a page). Seems like it should work but doesn't. I simply do not know how to publish the post so that it shows under the sub menu. Thank! Sharon

Hi Bryan, Thanks for all your help. So I did what you said, and it worked to create tabs. Now when I post under a category such as "Women", it goes to the page created in the menu. However, the post does not show in full. It only shows the title as a link. When I set it to show full post in excerpts on the Pagelines settings, it doubles on the homepage. Does that make sense? In addition to selecting the option that allows the full post to display, you have to disable the excerpts in a separate setting (in your settings, it's called Post Excerpt or Summary Handling). Just uncheck the boxes next to the pages where you don't want the excerpts to show, and they will disappear.

Hello, I am struggling with this too. I get page not found if I browse to mywebsite.com/products/mobile-phone where products is a category and mobile-phone is a sub-category.

I just fiddled around and for some strange reason I can see a page but it's at mywebsite.com/products/category/products/mobile-phone/. Strange.

If your page is at mywebsite.com/products/category/products/mobile-phone, maybe it has to do with how the hierarchy of the categories is arranged. Can you check your Categories page on the Dashboard to see how they're set up? If it's not that, then where are you finding the link mywebsite.com/products/category/products/mobile-phone? Does it appear in the navigation menu?

Thanks for your help, Bryan and Catrina. So I've decided to make static pages, which I will update regularly as new content emerges. The pages created by categories weren't working too well for me.

Hi Guys, I have been following your tips, and have found them most helpful. I have created a 'Blog' category (for my blog posts) which is contained in my primary menu, except posts are not displaying properly. When you click on the Site Branding of my site, it takes you to a page with full excerpts of posts, rather than taking you to the home page. When you click on 'blog' in the primary menu, it takes you to a page where it only displays the link to the full post. Can someone tell me how to fix this? Many thanks.
