Facebook share not selecting an image

Recommended Posts

Thanks, I went back and read them all, still no changes. I am not trying to hide the pics in my posts. I actually want them there. Facebook just won't pick them up. Must be something in my custom code. Any help would be appreciated. I tried the reccomendations, cleared my cache, added the xhtml script. Nothing seems to work.

We'll look into simplifying this in future updates.

Hello all, I have read through this thread, and all of the threads linked above, and Bryan's article about this topic (http://www.bryanhadaway.com/adding-social-scrape-images/), but still do not know how to fix my problem. When I Share a post (or page) on Facebook (either manually by copying and pasting a URL or by using the built-in Share buttons in the PlatformPro theme), I do not have any thumbnail options. But in addition to that problem, the entire URL appears instead of the post or page title, AND no excerpt appears. You can see what I mean here: Picture-1.png You can see how my site does not work by clicking the FB Share button on this post: http://www.yourownsanctuary.com/blog/2011/04/14/celebrate-earth-day-on-the-atlanta-beltline/ (As I noted above I get this same issue when Sharing a post or page.) And you can see how another site built on PlatformPro DOES work by doing the same thing on this post: http://thecontentauthority.com/blog/successful-online-marketing-campaign

One thing that jumps out at me is thecontentauthority's use of Like-Button-Plugin-for-WordPress, which is adding a bunch of open graph meta tags. That's a big plus for the facebook linter. ` ` `...` So see if that that plugin helps. Another thing to note is that facebook caches all linting queries, so if you keep testing the same article, you won't be able to tell if changes are working.
