mothpre 0 Report post Posted February 6, 2011 Hello everyone. I'm designing my web site with PlatformPro, has been hard since I know nothing of css, html codes etc, but I' am trying. I would like to know how can I relate categories, pages and Post: there is this video about how to "create multiple post pages by categoriy" . But some doubts come to me, first how to set the order, what if I want the subcategories be showed as subpages. I want to have something like 4 categories but each one has like 5 subcategories that I would like to be showed as subpages. so I can relate every each post to a category or subcategory. Is there a way to create the pages and subpages, crate categories and subcategories and posting in and only on the desire page. or can this be done like in the video, ??how to manage subcategories? ??how to manage the order? Thank You.
catrina 103 Report post Posted February 6, 2011 There is a way to create pages that have subpages, but there is no such thing as a subcategories belonging to categories on WordPress. Do you still want to know how to manage just the categories? Please read the docs before posting. Please do not private message me unless I ask you to. mothpre 0 Report post Posted February 6, 2011 looking in the Forum I found the Query Posts , I think that I can set the post objectives with it, - set the widget on the universal slidebar, with post I want to appear - create a new page, where I want my post to appear - customize the template of the new page with slidebar - it worked. Now the only problem is that I would need several universal slidebars to set different Query Post options and drop it to the desire page. What do you think? Which is the best way of doing it? mothpre 0 Report post Posted February 6, 2011 After trying a lot with Query Post, I look for a better use to "menus" option, I was worried because it was limited to 3 menus only. and Query Post was making use of my silidebars. Creating categories you can set all your navigation possibilities. I set a menu in it named "noticias" below it I added all pages (if you don't they will disappear from navigation bar) then at left I selected the categories I wanted to look like submenus, subpages, subcateories (whatever) I set them below Image here Then I set the reading options so the welcome page will be information, and the news and other stuff will be in other place. now I can post make different kind of post, selected in different categories. the only problem is that the main menu will show all post, and submenus will select them (it works for me that way) Hope this info works for someone. Thank you Catrina for your attention.
makeylon 0 Report post Posted February 7, 2011 Catrina, Wordpress does allow creating categories with a "parent" category, which to me would mean the child categories are sub-categories. Perhaps I'm missing something?
Kate 3 Report post Posted February 7, 2011 Mateo - Thanks for taking the time to come back and explain your solution. Gave you a Karma point for that @Mark You're absolutely right... there are sub-categories in WP. Perhaps Catrina was referring to something else? Either way, thanks for your input
