Platform Pro install question.

Recommended Posts

I just installed platform pro and have a couple of questions. When I downloaded the Dev version, I received Platform Pro 1.2.3 and Platform Base 1.0.4. I've read the text file that came with the download. Am I right that I have to install Platform Pro 1.2.3 FIRST (and activate), and then install PlatformBase 1.0.4 SECOND (and then activate). So in the end, I have platformbase as my current theme? Is that correct or am I missing something? Also, for buddypress install do I continue to run PlatformBase? Thanks again.

Upload Platform Pro and Base. Then you just have to active base. Then when you need to update Pro you just overwrite the folder and your good to go. All your edits and changes are saved in base. Also when updating some of your CSS may need tweaked if they changed a few id and class names. All are easy to fix if you use firebug. This is why I only update my theme on the weekends, so I have all the time in the world to fix anything that might come up. Hope that helps and remember to try no to over complicate things. Well come to the club and I am sure you will enjoy this theme as much as I do. :)

Hey Jason, yes, I really am enjoying Platform! So to clarify, I should upload both but run Base. Why would I need to upgrade Pro then? I am not sure I totally understand the relationship between Base and Pro. Thanks again...

You don't have to update/upgrade anything unless you'd like to. PlatformPro IS the main theme and then PlatformBase is the child theme which you activate. It's for those who would like to make heavy customizations and be able to update with ease. Thanks, Bryan
