Blog Column layout

Recommended Posts

Hi, I'm trying to rework the blog column layout. Have made some progress in firebug but am not quite getting it to actually work.. http://wpdev.sontagfilm.org/?cat=6 I tried a bunch of variations on something like this (which is how i read it in firebug)

mcolumn-pad. element.style {
	? ? ? ? padding-left:? 125px;
	? ? ? ? padding-right:? 13px;
	? ? ? ? padding-top:? 160px;
	}

Am I close? Also, in firebug the padding is affecting the background image as well, which obviously I don't want to happen.. Thanks! David

Hey David you wouldn't want the element.style part, just use ` .mcolumn-pad { padding-left: 125px; padding-right: 13px; padding-top: 160px; } `

Hi David, Whenever you're trying to "overwrite" pre-existing CSS you have to become more specific, try: ` body .mcolumn-pad { padding-left: 125px; padding-right: 13px; padding-top: 160px; } ` Thanks, Bryan

Well, what's the actual layout goal and maybe I can help styling up the CSS a different/right way. Thanks, Bryan

I want to pull in the margins of the blog posts- by roughly 120px on the left, 13px on the right, and bring them down about 160px down from the top. You can tell with the background in there how I'm trying to move the blog post stream into place to fit the graphic:

Thanks so much Bryan.. Best, David

I see what's up...you need to overwrite this rule ` .one-sidebar-right #column-main .mcolumn-pad, .one-sidebar-right #container #content { padding: 2em 30px 0px 15px; } ` So you need at least that and can do this to be safe ` body.one-sidebar-right #column-main .mcolumn-pad { padding: 2em 30px 0px 15px; } ` of course change the values to what you wanted.
