Add shortcode in function.php to add widget in header

Hi there, I'm trying to follow the advice of this thread and have the following PHP code to insert (from the Custom Widget Area plugin site): if (!function_exists('dynamic_sidebar') || !dynamic_sidebar('Header Widget Area')) : endif; Where do I put this?
