Post Category Feed to Boxes

Hey Adam, It still isn't drawing code into the box. Here is the code I strung together as per your last reply:

<?php
	query_posts('showposts=1&cat=22&orderby=desc');
	if (have_posts()) : while (have_posts()) : the_post();
	?>
	<div class="post-thumb" style="margin-right:-<?php echo $thumb_space;?>px">
		" rel="bookmark" title="<?php _e('Permanent Link To', 'pagelines');?> <?php the_title_attribute();?>">
			<?php the_post_thumbnail('thumbnail');?>

	</div>

	<div class="post-header fix <?php if(!pagelines_show_thumb($post->ID)) echo 'post-nothumb';?>" style="<?php

		if(pagelines_show_thumb($post->ID)){
		echo 'margin-left:'.$thumb_space.'px';
	}

	?>" >

	<div class="post-title-section fix">

		<div class="post-title fix">

			<?php pagelines_get_post_title();?>

			<?php pagelines_get_post_metabar();?>

		</div>
	</div>

	<?php if(pagelines_show_excerpt( get_the_ID() )): // Post Excerpt ?>
		<div class="post-excerpt">
			<?php the_excerpt(); ?>
		</div>

	<?php endwhile; endif; ?>
	<?php wp_reset_query(); ?>[/code]

The only thing I changed was the category number, which is a category I have named front-page-news. I feel like we are close!!! As John Tindel states, I would imagine there are a lot of people who want this feature. I am still wondering if Boxes are the best way to do this? It seems like it might a native feature that I have missed. Thanks!

Andrew

at the end of the day, shortcodes are a really simple answer to these types of problems.

I am going to keep an eye on this thread. I would love a simple feature that makes a box a latest category article and clickable. So much code in this thread, I figured I would just wait. www.indakno.com

Andrew - What shortcodes do you suggest for this issue. I got the category in the box, but the thumbnail addition would be great too.

So...I just want to follow up with this thread. I got the plugin Bryan suggested and it made the whole thing SO MUCH EASIER. I have chosen the option of using the widget for the plugin by adding it to my morefoot sidebar instead of embedding the shortcode into boxes(but I tried that and it was easy as well). Now all that is left is styling the css. I have not been able to make the thumbnails work on it yet, but the plugin developer offers great support, so I am sure this will come in time. What I am most excited about is the ability for a non-coder to change which category appears on the sidebar widget via a drop-down menu in the widget instead of having to tweak code. This will be very helpful if clients want to change categories for the boxes on their own. list category posts Thanks for all of the help everyone!
