inov8ed 0 Report post Posted January 13, 2011 Does anyone have a good solution that they have tried with PlatformPro for auto assigning featured images for posts if they are not already selected? -Adam
Kate 3 Report post Posted January 13, 2011 Hi Adam - Have you Googled this yet? There are some solutions, and I believe plugins, out there for this. The one that came to my mind was grabbing the first image (attachment) and displaying that if no featured images are selected.
inov8ed 0 Report post Posted January 13, 2011 Hi Kate, I have, I was just looking to see if anyone else has dealt with this before and what they did with PlatformPro. Didn't want to re-invent the wheel. :-) -Adam
cmunns 16 Report post Posted January 13, 2011 It would be a pretty simple mod to the code if you wanted to grab the first image and use that I could help you if you want.
creativefactor 0 Report post Posted January 23, 2011 I too have been needing a feature like this for a site that I'm starting. Any help would be great!
Andrew 207 Report post Posted January 23, 2011 @Michael, just do a Search; there are some posts out there on how to do something like this. Just add your code to base functions.php
creativefactor 0 Report post Posted January 23, 2011 I've done searches and that seems to be a bit of a random direction to give.
runkle 0 Report post Posted January 25, 2011 I think what Michael and I are looking for is for wordpress's "featured image" to be the PageLines feature image. It's annoying to have to explain to editors why there are two featured image areas on a post edit screen ... and which one to use ... especially when there is no good reason that there are two similarly titled elements (featured image), only one of which actually puts an image into the featured area. We also ought to be able to use the Media Library for feature images. I know you can just enter the URL for an already-uploaded image, but why not add a "from library" button right next to "upload" in the feature editing area? inov8ed 0 Report post Posted January 25, 2011 The auto post thumbnail works great. Thanks. -Adam
runkle 0 Report post Posted January 25, 2011 Bryan - auto-post-thumbnail is nice, but doesn't do what I was perhaps inadequately describing. And WP won't activate the auto-post-images plugin due to "invalid header." So, I want to try to explain again. I'm talking about the images that appear in the feature, not just thumbnails. When you are editing/writing a post, in the Platform Pro Feature Options panel, where you are asked for the URL to the background, media or thumb images, it would be much better if we could have two more options for each of these image types (in addition to what we have now: "upload," "remove" and the unstated "enter URL in the box"). So, the buttons might read: Upload, Use featured image, From library, Remove "Featured image" means the image one can assign as "featured image" in the WP post editor in the right sidebar. This especially desirable when the PlatformPro feature settings use an existing category to put featured posts into the feature area.
