Comments box missing on posts?

How come there's a comments box at the bottom of this post: http://www.jennyandfrancois.com/2010/10/29/an-interview-with-christian-binner/ But not this one: http://www.jennyandfrancois.com/2011/01/12/interview-with-fifi-of-10-bells/ I can't seem to figure any rhyme or reason to why some posts have it and others don't.

WHen you say "individual post options" what do you mean exactly? something in the post editing page itself? I don't see anything like that on that page. Or do you mean on the "discussion" settings page? Strangely, before I posted this thread, I noticed that the box entitled "Allow people to post comments on new articles (These settings may be overridden for individual articles.)" was not checked. It is now checked, but nothing changed. Is something overriding this somewhere else? I'm really lost on this. Never had a problem with something so basic in wordpress.

There is a WordPress option on individual posts where you can turn off and on comments, is that on?

I think I may have figured out the problem. Since discovering this problem, I did check the box allowing comments on all new posts. But it seems that does not apply retroactively on old posts? I just published a test post, and the comments box was there. But how can I get the comment box to appear on old posts?

I'm sorry, I just figured it out. I didn't realize there's a discussion checkbox hidden under screen options at the top of the editing page. That must be a new feature of wordpress 3.0? I don't remember ever seeing that before. All is right now.
