Post Directly to front page (noob)

Hi all, This is my first effort (for the last few days) to get posts directly posting to the front page, which is setup to use the default template and has the 'features' box displaying on it. I am using PageLines Pro, and WP 3.0.4. Effectively, what I am trying to do is exactly as http://greenriveracademy.com/ I would like a thumbnail as well as the excerpt to display but so far I have not been able to make that work. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again.

Do you have Wordpress set up to have your home page display a static page or a posts page? This is in the wordpress settings (not platform pro's settings) on the left menu near the bottom. Settings > Reading
