feature request: free the templates! + add sidebars drag n drop

Recommended Posts

Hi This has been brought up on the forum before but I'd like to re-address this feature request. It will be very powerful to be able to a. To create custom templates (each one of my site pages has a custom look and at the moment I have to sacrifice one of the default templates for each of the pages. For example, my front page has a unique design and I am using the highlights template for it. It will be nice to be able to create a custom "front-page" template for better organization and to be able to create unlimited amount of custom pages. b. Free the drag-drop template elements so that they are not restricted to header, footer, etc. A classic example is the twitter bar, why is it only available in the more footer? I would actually like to display it in my header. Having all the sections available to drag-n-drop on any of the templates will be nice. c. finally, I would like to be able to drag-n-drop design sections into the side bars. There are workarounds, but for design sake, it will be really nice to be able to place the content section, or the boxes/soapboxes into the sidebars. What I am after with that is 2 or more column designs that will allow me total freedom of what element goes in which column. So not looking at it as main content | side bar, but as column one | column two, does that make sense? Please let me know if you have any questions or feedback, or good ways to accomplish any of my requests. Also, I am new here, so if you'd like feature requests in another section of the site, please let me know. Appreciate your hard-work and dedication, Tom

A. don't tell anyone, but this is coming.. soon. B. Good idea with the Twitterbar, although the reason we did it this way is because the elements aren't always 'graphically' supported outside their template area. This will be improved and iterated. C. I see what you mean, same answer as B. We have plans for this.. you'll love the things we are working on for you.

Glad to hear that my ideas aren't strange and that you are working on creating platform pro even stronger. Are future versions included in the package? Excited to check them out, let us know if there are beta versions you'd like us to take a look at. all the best...and waiting patiently, Tom (for Mark W.)

Hey Tom, Yes, all major minor updates and minor updates are included... there may be an upgrade for PlatformPro2 but that's not planned for a while...

Glad to hear that and look forward to it. I think the marriage of robust customization and simplicity (ie no hard coding) is the holy grail for the mass audience of prospective users out there.

Came here to request exactly this:

a. To create custom templates (each one of my site pages has a custom look and at the moment I have to sacrifice one of the default templates for each of the pages.
Glad to hear it's in the works!
