colors not holding in navigation menu

http://citizenmediagroup.com If you navigate all through my main nav menu, you will notice that the blue background of the nav selections are not uniform. The highlighted items are supposed to remain blue until the selection changes, both in the main nav and the sub nav. But only some do, and others don't. I'd like for it to be consistent.

Try clicking on "Recent Shows". Notice how it remains blue until you click to someplace else. Now try clicking on "Events". It does not remain blue. I want everything to remain blue until you click someplace else, so it is clear to the viewer what menu section they are currently under. In the case of a dropdown menu with a subnav, I want the subnav selection to be blue along with the top level also remaining blue, until they go someplace else. For example "All Shows". When you click that, whatever you select in the subnav turns blue, but the top level does not remain blue. Compare that with "About" and you will notice that both the subnav AND the top level remains blue. So it is not being consistent for some reason. I have tried IE and the same applies as with Firefox. Does that make sense?

Right, well for some reason WP isn't applying CSS rules to the elements.. Not sure if this is an issue with WP... I can tell you that the reason the 'events' tab isn't highlighted is because it's a category.. did you set it up as a category or static link?

"Recent Shows" is a category same as "Events" but that one works. They are both category menu items.

@Soljon Regarding the "Events" tab not showing the same as the "Recent Shows"... First, the URLs are setup differently, in case you didn't see that. (Shouldn't matter, but wanted to point it out for the sake of consistency ;) Second, when selected, the "Events" tab is not getting the "current-menu-item" class applied. Without being able to see behind the scenes, it's kind of difficult to say why that is.

yes thank you for the observation. The reason why the links are different is because for some reason "Recent Shows" if accessed by name, wipes out the info in the sidebar under "Recent Blog Posts". But if I access it by the category id, it does not. I have no idea why... so I just changed the link and moved on. Compare the difference and note the change in the sidebar: http://www.citizenmediagroup.com/recent/ http://www.citizenmediagroup.com/?cat=56

do you think it will be possible to get the nav colors to behave uniformly?

Hey Soljon - It's going to be hard to do that since there's no specific class being generated (as mentioned above) for the menu item when setup the way it is currently.

I am trying to figure out what changed, because when we first tweaked the css it was working fine for quite a while, then along the way I noticed it was no longer working the same way. Can I change something to revert back to it?

If it was working fine before it's probably a new plugin you've added?
