Default Bug

Recommended Posts

renderinnovations

I'm not sure if this occurs in other sites, but when I change something drastic such as changing the width of the site from 1060 to 980 the settings for my blog page change, morefoot settings reappear, and things return to default. This is a bit annoying because I have to go back and change everything again. If this doesn't make sense let me know. Thanks! Adam

Weird one, so something with the layout editor causes which settings to reappear?

Well, its sometimes when change the dimensions of the width of margins and a few other drastic settings which unfortunately I can't remember. But it changes the morefoot settings to reappear so that each page obtains the morefooter on the bottom of content, my boxes & soapboxes get bigger to the default size, which I usually make smaller because default is too big, all of the custom coding disappear (I had help from Kate on the forum and placed the navigation higher and beside the logo and its back to default). What I tried doing was resetting the fullwidth to fixed width and adding my own background to the fixed width so the margins interact with the body images and background. (Hard to explain without showing) My goal is to create a highlight page so that there is a background image and I can add buttons on top of that image as well as text. An example can be found at http://www.firefox.com (The download section) But either way, when trying to do this everything went to default. Thanks for all your doing btw! I'm enjoying Platform Pro very much!

First of all the custom code may have stopped working for a variety of reasons such as. changing the design mode if the css was dependent on the previous design mode. Also, are there steps to repeat to make this happen and what version and browser are you using when it happens. You can also make sure to do backups and download the settings file to prevent having to redo each time when you're testing it.

@Brackbill, no this isn't a known issue.. we need to duplicate it to see what's going on... Would it be possible to get you to do a Jing Screencast of it for us?

@Andrew Okay, i'd be glad to. I'll do it as soon as I can. For a screen cast, would you like me to show you the steps that I do to create this problem? @Cmunns, I am using Google Chrome... (I know reading the docs you all boast about firefox ;) ha) However I don't see how the images for the boxes change to its default size being dependent on the css. You can see what I mean by visiting http://174.121.134.124/~ruttreal/wordpress/ ... Keep in mind I will be changing this soon to complete the sight under its deadline. Also the text for the footer disappeared. Not too sure why. No biggie though, its easily fixed. Thanks for the product guys! This is so great and has helped me understand/learn html and css better too.

Yes, duplication is key to getting things fixed/solved/patched.
