Struggling to get Template Sections to work with indivdual blog posts et al.

First I have to concur with some other comments posted that I do find the Template setup confusing. Mostly because of the liberal use of the word "sidebar" for sections. "Section" or even "Module" however Drupelesque, might be less confusing since "Content Sidebar" and and other "sidebars" in the Page content areas don't actually make sidebars (much to my chagrin). That aside, I do like how you can Hide/Show the sidebar/modules through the checkbox settings. However, I am confused and would like to know if there is a solution to a problem I am having. Example: While I can get the "Primary Sidebar to show up on the main Blog post page by Selecting the "Hiding This by Default" and the Show On Post Pages" This appears not to extend to individual posts or their category pages or tag pages. We have almost 200 posts and it is unlikely and way too time consuming to go back and to check "Show Primary Sidebar" on everyone. And extremely problematic to expect folks publishing the blog posts to remember to check it off (plus the several other sections in the sidebars) Is there a simpler way that I am overlooking to handle this in the Template setup? (Without having to select show everywhere by default, which causes its own issues)

It would be easier to simply set it to ALWAYS show the sidebar on all pages/posts and then with CSS hide the sidebar where it should not appear. Get that far and post the link to your site. Thanks, Bryan

Thanks Bryan! That worked out great. Now I am able to wrestle with the Buddypress Navigation and get it the way I want. The option to create extra Base Sidebars is a huge plus! BTW: The site I am working on is http://mhs.myotus.com (development site)
