Sidebars on the Archive and Category Pages

Recommended Posts

I have changed the default layout to a "two-column" layout but the category pages and archive pages (tags, search, custom taxonomies, etc.) and also the blog page (which seems to be a category page) still keep the one-culumn layout, showing only the primary sidebar. What causes that and how can I fix the layout? The site is not in English but in the following links you can see how the sidebar differs in different pages: The default "two-column" layout on a post The default "two-column" layout on a page Blog page (incorrect layout) Sample Search page (incorrect layout) Sample category page (incorrect layout) Sample BuddyPress group page (shows the "two-column" layout correctly)

Have you tried changing anything in the Template Settings? (i.e. opening the Post Pages template, which is the blog template, and seeing if the Universal sidebars is enabled and opening the Posts Page Content Area and seeing if the Content Sidebar is enabled)

Universal sidebar gets enabled and appears on the top of current sidebars, but it has nothing to do with the problem I have. The templates affect the content area not the sidebars. So changing them doesn't fix the problem.

Which two-column layout did you select? (two-column aligned on the right, two-column on the left, or one column on each side)

As you can see in the links my choice is "two-column on the left", showing both Primary and secondary sidebars. The pages that do not show the side bar correctly only show the primary sidebar.

I just set the global layout on my site to two sidebars and the category and search pages work fine. Are you using the global option or the page meta option?

What are the "global option" and the "page meta option"? I set up the layout in: PlatformPro Theme Options > Layout Editor There is no "global option" and the "page meta option"? there. All the problematic pages are category pages that cannot be customized individually.

The global layout is in that page; its where you select how many sidebars you want!

So I set it up in global layout but the theme does not apply it to the blog page as well as the category and archive pages.

Not to the theme itself but to the child theme. Almost all the changes are styles (CSS).

OK, I finally found out what the problem is: In the admin I had set up the Posts Page-Content Layout to "one sidebar on left": PlatformPro Theme Options > Blog And Posts > Posts Page-Content Layout But the strange thing is that it affects all the category and archive pages as well. My problem is solved now, but I think the option for the archive and category pages needs to be separated from the option for the blog page option.
