Hook to exclude certain blog post entries

Recommended Posts

Does Platform Pro have the hooks functionality? Here is what I am trying to do. A client of mine his website is located at http://thecontentauthority.com/blog/ I am currently presenting him with various layouts. One of the layouts is a podcast page so it will be at... http://thecontentauthority.com/blog/podcast/ In order for me to pull this off without having to run two versions of wordpress I want to exclude blog post entries that are categorized as 'video'. What I am trying to achieve is say for an example I create a post today and I put it under the video category it will not show up as a blog entry. The more I think on it, the more I think it would be better and a whole lot easier to run a second instance of wordpress and label it podcast so the url will be http://thecontentauthority.co/podcast/ I mean I could do a redirect and apply the hook instead...Any thoughts?

Hi Scot, What if you just used a post type for "Podcasts" & "Videos"? This would isolate all of those posts from the Blog entirely option. Another option you may want to explore is the new WordPress 3.1 Post formats that will be coming out soon, if your client can hold of for a bit that is. Best of luck, I hope this helps.

Thanks Kevin for the quick response I will look into both suggestions you supplied. I did end up going with a wordpress plugin called Wordpress Hide Post http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-hide-post/ Looking forward to that post format option when WordPress launches it! Thanks for your help Kevin.
