Tips to make your children’s books more appealing

I have been in the book publishing business since many years now. I have been a publisher mainly for books targeted for adults. But recently, since a couple of years, I have also been working on publishing books for children as well. When I first wanted to publish my book for children I got it analyzed by some friends and family members to see what they thought. And the first thing they asked me to do was to hire an illustrator for children’s book and have some colorful and playful images added to my book before I get published. And I did. Do you think it’s necessary to have illustrations present in a children’s book?
